THE STORY

i eat my jam with a spoon from the jar

the first time i made jam was with my mother. when we no longer had access to a fruit tree, we started to make fruit pies in the summer. i didn’t think much of this, until as an adult, i started watching The Great British Bake Off, which inspired me to start baking and experimenting with jam again. i quickly learned that making jam soothed my anxiety and nourished my soul to life. the jambear within was unleashed and once i started jamming, i knew i wanted to find a way to do it for life.

i needed to learn more so i enrolled in pastry school. i wanted to learn how to make pastries and breads to go with my jam. all through my pastry and baking training at the San Francisco Cooking School, i always asked, “can jam go in this?” it was one of my proudest moments when i was able to make a pluot ginger jam as part of my class’ final project.

i continued experimenting with my technique, but kept with strawberry. it is my favorite jam flavor, and i wanted to master my method before i thought about applying it to another variety. i love putting jam on everything - yogurt, fruit - and needed a jam that could meet my needs. this is when i invented spooning jam - a thinner style of jam with an intense strawberry flavor and a bright strawberry syrup that blends well with everything.

it wasn’t until summer 2018 when i entered an amateur summer jam contest that i started to think i could go into business selling jam. my strawberry jam was voted People's Choice at CUESA’s (Cultivating a Healthy Food System) 2018 Summer Jam Preserves Contest. people were in love with my jam - even though it was not traditional - it was something they had never had before and they wanted more.

i knew i was onto something. i started dedicating more and more of my free time to honing in on my technique and developing my signature style. now that it’s here - i can’t wait to share it with you.
